Dear Partners In Ministry,
Once in a while, out of the blue it seems, though I am convinced it happens all too often without our perception, God makes it evidently clear to our human minds His sovereign hand on the circumstances of our lives.
The barrel was blue. It had been desired for a while, and a friend had found just the right one - for free. It would be used to help stretch the legs of our boy who has cerebral palsy. My wife, Sarah, had picked it up on the morning of the accident. It was placed just behind the seat of our little vehicle, just where it needed to be. Sarah had stopped, waiting for oncoming traffic to give her a gap, her turn signal blinking, her eyes on a nice watermelon selling at the roadside stand - the first of the season. The truck didn’t even slow down. It rammed into the back of the car with such force it sent the heavy duty jack through the back window and onto the road. The rear bumper was split - the windows in pieces. The seat she was in was broken with the impact - but the barrel, now wearing a large indentation, had cushioned the impact. God was there, in every movement of that barrel from the time it was formed to the time it was deformed. With such a God - with such an orchestration of events beyond any time management gurus greatest achievement - why should I lean on my understanding. Who am I, but one who seeks with wisdom - to follow. I acknowledge Him. I admit with praise His utter purposefulness of each life detail to ultimately glorify Himself. He is God - and I am a privileged bought-one, extremely content in His goodness.
So - we are down to one vehicle, and glad that it holds us all. It would have been too tight a squeeze if the Tazz were here and the combi in the crash collection lot. Sarah has a few bruises but nothing to complain about. But let us also share some doggie news. Jessie had her puppies - all 7 of them! 5 boys and 2 girls were finally counted with one having to have some puppy stimulation CPR just like on 101 Dalmatians. Mother and puppies are all well.
Thanks for your prayers. Just for your information, the accident happened on Monday at 2:30pm our time - 7:30am Minnesota time. Apart from some minor cuts and bruises, Sarah is doing “lacher” (good), still has a smile on her face, and hasn’t skipped a beat. Below is the remains of Elmer Thud, who won‘t be seen again except in the picture book.
Serving the King of the world, the Sovereign of the blue barrel,
Kevin, Sarah, Benjamin, Nathan, Caleb, Luke, Cortney, Jacob, & Josiah
